Siding as an energy and comfort upgrade

• Wood and engineered wood. Warm look, with more upkeep.

What to ask about before the old siding comes off

• Will exterior insulation be added, and what R-value?
• How are windows and doors being flashed to keep water out?
• What happens if rotten sheathing or framing is found?
• Is there a plan for the vents, soffits and downspouts?

When to do it

Siding goes up in the milder months. Because it takes days, not weeks, a well-organised crew can fit it between other jobs, but good ones book early. Winter is the time to ask for quotes and choose the product.
